This show plunges us into Juan Perez Escala’s puppet workshop and into the world of magic realism and microfiction, a South American artistic movement.
The stories he tells us are not stories. Nor poems. Not really haikus. Nor are they jokes or little tales. He has given them a name: “kazus”.
Juan delicately takes us into his world, where love, life and death intertwine. He sublimates the everyday, trivializing madness and melancholy. And as one kazu follows another, we realize that we’re also talking about something more intimate and profound: Kazu is madly in love with Lou, but Lou is no longer here. Yet love is still alive and well…
Puppets, music and live drawings collide to create an iconoclastic show that exudes moving, philosophical poetry.

Singe Diesel is a contemporary puppet theater company based in Guilers (29) and founded by Juan Perez Escala. Son of an Argentine Comedia actor, Juan was immersed in theater from an early age. He then turned to the fine arts, gaining experience as a sculptor, draughtsman and builder. The desire to write his own stories led him to create his own company in 2011. His aim is to question and surprise our relationship with reality and the imaginary, building a universe at the crossroads of South American magic realism and popular culture. At present, the company is continuing to tour “KAZU” and “Sueño”, which are touring France and abroad, and is working on its next creation for young audiences, “METAPHORES”, which will be presented in Charleville at the FMTM in September 2023.
