With a background in textile arts, Noémi Bélanger holds a DESS in contemporary puppet theater from UQAM. In 2018, she founded her company L’os de bois, Théâtre de marionnettes. Her artistic approach is supported by the Conseil des arts et des lettres du Québec, the Canada Council for the Arts and the City of Laval. A textile artist and puppeteer, she specializes in needle felting and wool work to create a fantastic universe in which her sculptures and puppets come together and reveal themselves. At the crossroads of fine crafts and the performing arts, the craftswoman’s know-how is inspired by the human being. Throughout her creative process, she focuses on personifying her puppets, whose facial mimics and bodily attitudes unmistakably resemble human expressions.
